JSAM 80th Meeting

Organized Sessions

OS-1: Elucidation of accidents in farming work and efforts on safety and comfort
In order to reduce the number of accidents in agricultural and rural environments and in the use of agricultural machineries, and to improve safety and comfort, we will call the presentations and discuss about the analysis and clarification of the current situation of accident occurrence, basic research and practical technologies to deal with various issues, and future approaches.
Session Organizer: Dr. Masami MATSUI (Utsunomiya University)

OS-2: The role of agricultural machinery and the Japanese Society of Agricultural Machinery and Food Engineers for Africa Field Innovation Center for Agricultural Technology (AFICAT)
In this session, international cooperation organizations and the frontline of researchers on agricultural mechanization will consider the role of agricultural machinery and academia for Africa Field Innovation Center for Agricultural Technology (AFICAT).
Session Organizer: Dr. Hideo HASEGAWA (Niigata University)

OS-3: Technology for primary producer's diversification into processing and distribution (sixth sector industrialization) of regional biological resources
We will discuss original and sustainable basic researches and practical technologies that will lead to commercialization, resource utilization, and entrepreneurship, keeping in mind the 6th industrialization technology using local biological resources, from agricultural products to biomass. We will also plan active discussions with related organizations highlighting biological resources in various regions.
Session Organizer: Dr. Yutaka KITAMURA (University of Tsukuba), Dr. Kazutaka UMETSU (Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine), Dr. Shoji KOIDE (Iwate University), Dr. Yoshiki MURAMATSU (Tokyo University of Agriculture), Dr. Shintaroh OHASHI (Niigata University), Dr. Takahisa NISHIZU (Gifu University), Dr. Ikko IHARA(Kobe University), Dr. Munehiro TANAKA (Saga University)

OS-4: Postharvest technology -Achievements and future perspectives-
This session aims to discuss future perspectives in the era of post-corona and second cold war through the currently ongoing studies based on the historical achievements of postharvest technology. We call for a wide range of presentations.
Session Organizer: Dr. Yukiharu OGAWA (Chiba University), Dr. Takahiro ORIKASA (Iwate University), Dr. Fumihiko TANAKA (Kyushu University), Dr. Shigenobu KOSEKI (Hokkaido University), Dr. Shinichiro KUROKI (Kobe University) (cooperated by Postharvest and Food Technology Section)

OS-5: New agricultural production and food development using unused resources - Utilization of food loss, insects and others –
As stated in Moonshot Goal 5, it is important for future agricultural production to reduce waste such as food loss, utilize biological functions such as microorganisms and insects, and have a complete resource recycling food production system. This OS aims at academic exchanges on new agricultural production and food development using these unused resources.
Session Organizer: Dr. Yutaka SASAKI (Tokyo University of Agriculture)

OS-6: Possibility of small agricultural robots
Unmanned tractor, rice planter and combine harvester are expected as a technology to support largescale management. On the other hand, can small robots be put into practical use as a technology that truly supports agriculture? In this session, we will explore the possibilities through many efforts.
Session Organizer: Dr. Tadashi CHOSA (Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology) , Dr. Eiji MORIMOTO (Tottori University) (promoted by IT & Mechatronics Section)

OS-7: Plant phenotyping technology for data-driven agriculture
Research on multi-scale measurement and analysis techniques for environmental response of plant traits from plant community to individual level has been actively conducted. In this organized session, we will invite a wide range of topics related to plant phenotyping research, which are becoming increasingly important with the spread and expansion of data-driven agriculture, for presentation and information exchange. We would welcome participation from overseas.
Session Organizer: Dr. Takashi OKAYASU (Kyushu University), Dr. Tsuyoshi OKAYAMA (Ibaraki University), Dr. Takashi FUKUSHIMA (Mie University), Dr. Daiki UMEDA (Nihon University), Dr. Eizo TAIRA (University of Ryukyus) (promoted by IT & Mechatronics Section)

OS-8: Informatization on livestock farming
In the livestock industries, feeding and growth environment are important factors related to their yield, quality and income. It is necessary to optimize the operations and environment based on animal welfare under accurate measurement of dairy cows, beef cattle, swine, broiler chicken, and egg-laying hens. Those animals and their products are targets of this session. In this session, we will call a wide range of presentations related not only to sensors, measurement systems, and information technology but also minimum environmental loads for sustainable livestock farming.
Session Organizer: Dr. Naoshi KONDO (Kyoto University)

OS-9: Sensing technology and informatization for fisheries
Sensing and information technologies in the fishery and aquacultural industries are becoming more and more important to realize appropriate resource management for sustainable fishery, prediction of fishing conditions and fish stock estimation for efficient fishery, aquacultural production with higher productivity and lower environmental load, and provision of safe and secure aquatic products with high added value. In this session, we will call a wide range of research presentations related to these topics for information exchange and discussion.
Session Organizer: Dr. Tomoo SHIIGI (National Fisheries University), Dr. Naoshi KONDO (Kyoto University)

OS-10: Fluorescence spectroscopy on agricultural, livestock and aquacultural products
Fluorescence spectroscopy has become a useful tool for quality evaluation of agricultural, livestock and aquacultural products. We will discuss how to effectively use fluorescence spectroscopy, such as how to utilize 3D EEM map data or 2D spectrum using single excitation wavelength in the future.
Session Organizer: Dr. Toshikazu KAHO (Niigata University)
